England Vs Iceland Euro

Iceland shock England in final warm-up game before Euro 2024

Three Lions beaten 2-1 at Wembley despite dominating possession

England's preparations for Euro 2024 took a hit on the eve of the tournament as they were beaten 2-1 by Iceland in a friendly at Wembley.

Gareth Southgate's side dominated possession and had 13 shots to Iceland's eight, but it was the visitors who took their chances and recorded four shots on goal to just one for the hosts.

Iceland took the lead in the first half through Gylfi Sigurdsson, and although Harry Kane equalised for England early in the second half, Birkir Bjarnason scored the winner for Iceland with just over 20 minutes remaining.

The defeat is a setback for England, who will be looking to make a strong start to their Euro 2024 campaign when they face Croatia in their opening game on Saturday.

England will now head into the tournament with just one win from their last four games, and they will need to improve their form in front of goal if they are to challenge for the trophy.
